The classic American cheeseburger has become an iconic symbol of American cuisine, loved by people all around the world. With its perfect combination of a succulent beef patty, melted cheese, and delicious toppings, it's no wonder that this timeless dish continues to be a favorite. In this article, we'll walk you through a step-by-step guide on how to make the ultimate classic American cheeseburger in the comfort of your own kitchen.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef (80% lean)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of American cheese
  • Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, etc.)
  • Condiments of your choice (mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, hot sauce, etc.)

Instructions :

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop pan over medium-high heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Gently mix the seasoning into the meat, being careful not to overwork it, as it can result in a tough burger.
  3. Divide the seasoned beef into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, ensuring they are slightly larger in diameter than the hamburger buns, as they will shrink during cooking.
  4. Once the grill or pan is hot, place the burger patties on the cooking surface. Cook for approximately 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. For a medium-rare burger, aim for an internal temperature of 130-135°F (55-57°C).
  5. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on top of each patty. Allow it to melt slightly.
  6. While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a separate pan.
  7. Once the burgers are cooked and the cheese has melted, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes.
  8. Assemble your cheeseburgers by placing each patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Add your preferred toppings, such as lettuce, tomato slices, onions, pickles, and any condiments you desire.
  9. Place the top half of the bun over the toppings, and your classic American cheeseburger is ready to be served!
